Philip Hegerich and Gertrude Hegerich Riley both stated, in independent letters, that their mother had 11 children. But the 1900 US Federal Population Census shows that Sarah Hegerich has had 5 children, all of whom were living, and the 1910 Census states that she has had 10 children, eight of whom are living. Further, the two children who died bteween 1900 - 1910 are known, and there is no known MA birth record for a child born after 1910. The most likely explanation is that there was a still-born child who never appeared in the census count or the MA Birth Register.

Converted from Lutheran religion to marry Sarah Horton. His occupations are given as Tailor, and later US Postal Service. He apparently ran his father's merchant tailor business after his father retired, and become a postman after his father's death. He was a letter carrier in Roslindale, MA.
