Notes - In all records save her daughter's obituary and the 1901 census (where she appears as Alice), her name is given as Dolly, Dolley, or Dolly Isabella. In her daughter's obituary, she is given as Dolores.
Her marriage is recorded both in the short-lived Lunenburg County Register of Marriages and in the NS Register of Marriage Licenses. Her father is given as Daniel Slauenwhite in both registers, while her mother is given as L. Baker in the former, and as Hermion(?) Baker in the latter. Although they disagree on her age, both registers state her place of birth as Tancook. Since her mother's names is given as BAKER rather than Slauenwhite, and since there are no other children for this couple, it seems likely that she was illegitimate. Also, it seems likely that she was raised by a Baker as she does not appear in the household of Daniel Slauenwhite in 1881 and her father's name is given Joseph Baker on her death certificate.
If one looks at the 1871 Census of Tancook for a Dolly, Dolores, or Dorothy b. abt. 1855 and living in a Baker household, the only person who meets this general description is living in the household of Philip BAKER where she seems to the the illegitimate daughter of Philip's daughter Jemima Baker [1871 Census of Lunenburg County, Tancook, page 9, family #31]. Since, in the Squiggle-Blotch variant of the English language, Hermion and Jemima could be mistaken for each other, this may be the explanation of Dolly's lineage, especially since Jemima is know to had a brother named Joseph Baker.
