Notes - The Waterman book lists Mary and Maude as two different daughters of Zenas WATERMAN, but notes that a nephew "had no information about her". Also, Maude is not listed as a child in this family in Farnham's Whitman book and that, plus the proximity of their dates of birth, raises a red flag. Then consider the following.
"Maude" m. Roderick RICHARDSON in 1875 but then marries Anna Louise BEMIS in 1877 and states that it is his first marriage. There is no death record for wife Maude, which implies that the marriage to Maude was quickly dissolved or annulled. But then in 1877, "Mary" (who is essentially the same age as Maude) m. John McKAY. So to me at least, it seems probable that Mary and Maude are the same person.
