    Notes
    • They appear in the 1901 Census but are known to have died in a smallpox epidemic shortly thereafter, as did some number fo thier children. Edward and Angeretta were buried in unmarked graves near the “quarantine house” in which they were place after contracting the disease. [David Winter]

  • Notes
    • Family legend has it that Edward and Angeretta, as well as one of their children, died in a smallpox epidemic about 1903 [Source: Dianne Madison]. There is certainly no record of them in 1911, nor is there any known [at least to me] record of Edward, Jr., in 1911 (or thereafter). Since all of their other children either died earlier, or are accounted for in the 1911 Census or later documents, if the family legend is true then child who dies abt. 1903 may well be Edward, Jr. [Bob H]
